Android player setup
Download Rechsign from the stable URL and install it on a compatible Android signage device. Making it the default screen app depends on device settings.

- 1
Identify the device
Record its model, Android version and firmware. Do not assume kiosk privileges or silent updates are available on every model. - 2
Download and install
Open the stable URL on the device and install the APK. For upgrades, install over the existing app from the same URL; do not clear its data unless support requests it.https://rechsign.com/android.apk
- 3
Open and pair
Launch Rechsign, enter its pairing code in the dashboard's Screens section and check the reported version and heartbeat. - 4
Configure the default app
If the device has an OEM signage app, select Rechsign in the manufacturer's auto-start or Home/Default App settings. Installing an APK alone cannot override those settings. - 5
Field-test the player
Play an image and a video, complete a full playlist loop, disconnect the network and reboot. Verify updates and device permissions on the actual hardware.
Troubleshooting
The OEM player returns
Check the manufacturer's auto-start or Home/Default App settings. If they cannot be changed, contact support before production use.
No update prompt appears
Finding a release is not the same as installing it. Open the stable download URL and verify the installed version; Android may require user confirmation.
Playback stops offline
Check the installed version and local media cache. Web and weather content needs a connection or a local fallback. Send a screen photo and logs to support.
Frequently asked questions
Does it run on every Android device?
No. Compatibility depends on OS version, firmware and device permissions.
Can it reboot the device or silently update the APK?
Those operations require management privileges or a documented OEM integration. A standard installation does not guarantee them.
